A wave of panic has engulfed the Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State after armed bandits attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, GGCSS, Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, resulting in fatalities and multiple abductions.
The late-night raid tragically claimed the life of the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, who was reportedly killed after he reportedly attempted to shield students from the attackers. The devastating assault has triggered deep fear across the region.A s the full extent of the tragedy is being assessed, the number of students kidnapped remains unclear, as authorities are yet to provide official details.
The horror of the unhindered attack was corroborated by a local source. A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, who confirmed the incident, said the assailants invaded the school unhindered, unleashing terror and throwing the community into trauma. She reflected the community’s anguish, lamenting: “It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire region into deep fear and mourning.”
The community is now uniting in grief and remembrance. Residents have continued to pray for the repose of the slain vice principal, whom they described as a devoted educator and protector of the children under his care.
