On 25 November 2024, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), administered the oath of office to Professor Rahmon Tella, reinstating him as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State.
Chairman Amupitan described the ceremony as a solemn call to duty.
“An occasion of an oath‑taking is a solemn occasion. It is an occasion that calls to duty,” he said, highlighting the trust placed in Tella’s leadership.
He praised the reappointment as reinforcing INEC’s commitment to electoral excellence, calling the commission’s work both a “moral and legal duty” to Nigerians.

Amupitan warned that the integrity of elections is non-negotiable, adding: “You must uphold the highest standard of professionalism and integrity in every action you take, Any compromise on our values or our procedures shall not be tolerated.”
The swearing-in underscores INEC’s determination to strengthen democratic institutions and uphold electoral integrity in Oyo State.
