The Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abdulraham Abdulrazaq, has established a high-powered, cabinet-level security committee tasked with developing alternative short-to-long term solutions to curtail further security breaches in the state.
The formation of the committee was announced in a statement released on Tuesday, the 25th of November, 2025, in Ilorin by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The newly constituted committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, with the Head of Service (HoS), Mrs Olufunke Shittu, serving as the secretary.
The membership includes the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Saliu Tunde Bello; the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Abdullahi Bata; the Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muhyideen Aliu; the Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Moshood Gobir; and one local government chairman representing each of the three Senatorial Districts.
The central mandate of the committee is to lead exclusive engagements with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to design a security strategy tailored specifically to Kwara State to strengthen public safety.
The committee has been given a four-week timeline to finalize its findings and submit its recommendations to the Governor.

“The committee will submit its report to the Governor within four weeks for further considerations and actions,” the spokesman added.
Its anticipated recommendations are intended to deepen the administration’s understanding of the nationwide security situations through a uniquely local perspective.
