Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condemned Tuesday’s attack on Eruku community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State and has called for an immediate reinforcement of security personnel to stabilise the area.
The assault occurred on the evening of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, when armed men invaded the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, and surrounding parts of the community.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, two people were killed in the attack.
One victim, Mr. Aderemi, was shot inside the church, while the second victim, Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was found dead in a nearby bush.
A vigilante member, Segun Alaja, sustained injuries and was taken to ECWA Hospital in Eruku for treatment.
Residents told journalists that several people were abducted, though the exact number has not been confirmed.
They described the gunmen as heavily armed and said the community has faced repeated attacks in recent weeks, sparking deep concern among families.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and the affected church community.
He requested the immediate deployment of additional security operatives to support existing personnel and restore calm to Eruku.
The governor also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s recent deployment of 900 additional troops to Kwara State, describing the reinforcement as a boost to ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the state.
Police authorities said officers and local vigilantes responded to the attack and that the gunmen fled into the bush after coming under return fire.
Security patrols have since been intensified around the area.
Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to protect communities throughout the state.
