Kwara Gov Abdulrazaq Visits, Sympathises With Communities Hit by Bandit Attacks

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Thursday, the 2nd of October, 2025, paid a visit to Oke Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area to sympathise with residents and families who lost relatives in the recent armed kidnappers’ assault.

The violent attack, which took place last Sunday in the Ogba-Ayo community of Oke Ode, left 12 people dead, among them the Baale of Ogba-Ayo. Several others were taken away by the assailants.

Governor Abdulrazaq, accompanied by senior government officials and heads of security agencies, offered prayers for the victims, acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel, and promised that normalcy would soon return to the area.

In a statement released in Ilorin by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor extended his condolences to affected families and expressed solidarity with communities in Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas that have suffered similar attacks.

“We have come to commiserate with the community over the attacks. It is to also commend the security forces, forest guards, and vigilantes for repelling them and restoring peace back to the community,” Abdulrazaq stated.
“It has been quite challenging. Everything is being put in place to mitigate its effects, and make sure we end such occurrences.”

Those on the governor’s entourage included the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo; State Director of DSS; NSCDC Commandant, Dr Umar Mohammed; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu; and Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, Femi Yusuf.

Security operatives and stakeholders from Oke Ode and neighbouring Igbaja also briefed the governor. Among those present were the National President of Oke Ode Development Association, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajala; Elder Oyin Zubair; and the community’s youth leader.

Before the visit, Governor Abdulrazaq had issued a statement sympathising with the affected people and stressing that stronger steps were needed to safeguard lives and property across the state.
