Senate Clears Ex-CDS Musa as Tinubu’s New Defence Minister

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence after a five-hour screening session at the National Assembly.

Musa, who only left office recently as the nation’s top military chief, was confirmed a day after President Bola Tinubu forwarded his name to the upper chamber for ministerial appointment.

The confirmation followed an interactive screening during which lawmakers questioned the retired general on national security, defence reforms and ongoing military operations across the country.
