Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday administered the oath of office to three newly elected members following the August 16, 2025, bye-elections.
The lawmakers—Omosede Igbinedion (Ovia South/Ovia West/Ovia North-East Federal Constituency, Edo State), Joseph Bagudu (Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State), and Mukhtar Rabiu (Garki/Babura Federal Constituency, Jigawa State)—were sworn in to fill seats left vacant by the deaths of four members and the selection of Dennis Idahosa as running mate to Senator Monday Okpebholo in the 2024 Edo governorship election.
The House had lost Ekene Adams (Kaduna), Isa Dogonyaro (Jigawa), and Olaide Akinremi (Oyo) to illness in 2024, and Oriyomi Onanuga passed away in 2025.
The August bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning four of the five vacant seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured one seat.

Those absent during Tuesday’s swearing-in were Elegbeji Ayola (Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency, Ogun State) and Oyekunle Sunday (Ibadan North), the latter being the sole PDP representative among the five elected lawmakers.
The induction of the three lawmakers restores partial representation to their constituencies as the House continues efforts to fill all remaining vacancies.
