Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Returns as Senate Resumes After 10-Week Recess

Embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central made her return to the Senate on Tuesday, the 7th of October, 2025, as plenary reconvened after a 10-week break.

The upper chamber had earlier adjourned on the 24th of July, 2025, for its annual recess, with a planned resumption date of the 23rd of September, 2025.

At Tuesday’s session, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin presided in the absence of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Natasha, who had been on a six-month suspension, was among those present at the sitting. Her reappearance drew attention as lawmakers returned to a packed chamber ready to resume legislative duties.

In a striking gesture, some senators appeared in Palestinian-themed outfits, showing support for the call for a free Palestine.
