The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has removed Alphonsus Ogar Eba as state chairman following a vote of no confidence by the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) on December 4, 2025.
Thirty of the 32 SEC members backed his removal, citing growing unrest within the party during his tenure.
Members accused Eba of financial mismanagement, withholding stipends, and adopting an authoritarian leadership style that disrupted grassroots operations.
The party secretariat was reportedly closed at times, limiting coordination with local government and ward officials.

Calls for his resignation began months earlier, with local government chairmen and ward secretaries petitioning the SEC over irregularities in party administration and alleged neglect of party structures.
Following his removal, Deputy Chairman Ntufam Ekum Ekok Ojogu was appointed Acting Chairman, pending formal ratification by the APC national leadership.
Political analysts say the leadership change reflects deep internal divisions and could affect candidate selection and party mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections.
