The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has officially welcomed a significant new member: Sadiq Abubakar, the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. Abubakar publicly announced his defection to the state’s ruling party.
The development was formally confirmed on Monday, the 8th of December, 2025, in Gusau through a statement released by the APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris. Idris hailed Abubakar’s change of allegiance as a “welcome development,” asserting that it illustrates the expanding political strength and popular support of the APC within Zamfara State.
Abubakar, making his exit official on Sunday, the 7th of December, 2025, in Kaura Namoda town, did not mince words regarding his former platform, stating that the PDP was “dead in Zamfara” and citing that it had been severely weakened by “serious crises at the national level.”
The new APC member was received at the party’s secretariat in Kaura Namoda by high-ranking officials, including former state APC Chairman Lawal Liman, and the Kaura Namoda APC Chairman, Alhaji Sule Gabake.
