The First Lady of Zamfara State, Haj Huriyya Dauda Lawal, led the mass wedding of 200 female orphans, organized by the State Zakkat and Endowment Board as part of its fourth-quarter 2025 welfare programme.
The ceremony took place at the Board’s headquarters in Gusau.
Haj Huriyya urged the newly married couples to practice patience, tolerance, and mutual respect, describing the initiative as a reflection of the state government’s commitment to supporting widows, orphans, and other vulnerable residents.
She emphasized that Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration continues to prioritize welfare programmes that alleviate hardship and empower citizens.
Each couple received essential household items, including furniture and bedding, and a N200,000 dowry to help them begin married life with dignity.
In addition, the Board awarded N50,000 business grants to 200 small-scale traders, many of whom are widows, orphans, or caregivers, to promote financial independence and livelihoods.
