The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a blistering attack on the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of leading “a band of political impostors” attempting to hijack the opposition party from outside its fold.
In a fiery statement on Monday, December 8, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the party said Wike and his loyalists have “no standing whatsoever” in the PDP, having been expelled with official certificates to prove it.
“The purported constitution of a so-called National Caretaker Committee by Nyesom Wike and his friends, clearly designed to coordinate their personal political affairs, would have passed unnoticed… if they had not attempted to falsely cloak it in the name of the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement read.
PDP accused the minister of acting in open contempt of an ongoing court case challenging the party’s convention.
According to Ememobong, “By proceeding to announce a fictitious National Caretaker Committee, they have acted in clear contempt of the court and have fundamentally altered the status of the two plaintiffs in that suit.”

The party went further to describe Wike’s political maneuvers as “a full-fledged tool in the ruling party’s playbook,” calling him “the face of an APC-sponsored drama to destabilize the main opposition.”
Ememobong insisted that all legitimate structures of the PDP remain intact under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
“All organs of our party, particularly the National Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees, remain intact and under the legitimate leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN,” he said.
Concluding, the PDP assured members and Nigerians that it will not be distracted.
“We remain firmly on a path of rebirth, anchored on transparency, equity, honesty, and inclusiveness,” the statement added.
