The Super Eagles have suffered a potential setback ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali could miss the tournament due to injury.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper, Nigeria’s first-choice keeper, sustained both ankle and hand injuries, with the latter reportedly requiring surgery.
Nwabali has not featured for his South African club, Chippa United, since Nigeria’s recent match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Although named in the Super Eagles’ provisional squad, his club coach has expressed doubts about the goalkeeper’s readiness in time for the finals in Morocco.
If confirmed, Nigeria’s defence may head to the tournament without its trusted number one, raising concerns for coach Chelle as preparations intensify.
Fans and teammates have sent well-wishes to the keeper, hoping for a swift recovery ahead of the continental championship.
