President Bola Tinubu has commended Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, for what he described as significant investments in education, healthcare and transportation aimed at improving the lives of residents of the state.
The commendation was given on Saturday in Maiduguri during the President’s official visit to Borno State, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu, who is on a three-state tour of Borno, Bauchi and Lagos, said the Zulum administration had demonstrated a consistent commitment to people-centred development through sustained investments in key social and economic sectors.
The statement said the President arrived in Maiduguri at about 12:30 p.m. and inaugurated several projects executed by the state government. These included the international wing of the Muhammadu Buhari Airport, a new VIP extension, electric vehicles, intra-state buses, tricycles, and three model schools comprising primary, junior secondary and senior secondary levels.
“I am commissioning this primary, junior secondary school and senior secondary schools to the glory of God and for the continuous education of our children,” the President was quoted as saying.
Tinubu also praised the governor for his continued focus on education, health and transportation, noting that the investments had steadily improved the livelihoods of the people of the state.
During the visit, the President also attended the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.

In line with Kanuri cultural and marriage rites, Tinubu stood in as the father of the groom, while Governor Zulum acted as the father of the bride to receive the traditional bride price in the form of gold coins.
The wedding ceremony was hosted by the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.
Several governors, senators and ministers attended the event, including Governors Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa and Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
Tinubu departed Maiduguri for Bauchi State at about 3:25 p.m. to continue his official tour and arrived at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, at about 4:09 p.m., where he was received with a guard of honour by the Nigerian Air Force.
