Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has expressed devastation following the death of a Kenyan fan at his concert in Nairobi.
The victim, 20-year-old Karen Lojore, was reportedly crushed near a gate at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, December 20, 2025, amid long queues as fans waited to enter the venue.
Asake addressed the tragedy on his Instagram story on Monday night, December 22, 2025, writing:
“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on Dec 20th in Nairobi.
My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened.Those responsible should be held accountable.
Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such loss. My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace. God Bless Kenya.”
Concert organisers confirmed the loss of life and said they are cooperating fully with authorities as investigations continue.
Eyewitnesses described chaotic conditions at the stadium entrance, with long queues, crowding, and delays contributing to the tragedy.
Lojore was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
The incident has sparked public outrage, raising concerns about safety standards at large events.

Fans and families have called for stricter crowd management measures, noting that Lojore had a valid ticket yet still fell victim to the crush.
Asake’s management team said the star is personally shaken by the event, emphasising that his music has always been intended to bring joy, and that no fan should ever experience such a tragedy.
Authorities are investigating ticketing procedures, crowd control measures, and the conduct of security personnel at the stadium.
The tragedy has renewed discussions on the safety of major concerts in Africa, with organisers, artists, and regulators facing pressure to ensure proper planning and protective measures to prevent future incidents.
