Oyo Chief Vows Massive Investment to Transform Ofa-Igbo, Drive State Development

Olanrewaju Ola, an Ibadan-based media practitioner and community development advocate, has been installed as the Mayegun of Ofa-Igbo Land in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State. He pledged to contribute his resources and influence toward the growth and development of the town and the state.

The installation ceremony took place on Sunday at the palace of the Olofa of Ofa-Igbo Land, Oba Adeboye Oyelowo, in Ibadan. During the event, Ola described the title as deeply personal due to his ancestral ties to the area.

“I will utilise my position as the Mayegun of Ofa-Igbo Land to leverage my modest influence, relationships and experience for the growth and overall development of Ofa-Igbo in particular and the state in general,” he said.

Oba Oyelowo urged the new chief to make a positive and lasting impact on the town, cautioning him to always act in ways that uphold the dignity of his chieftaincy title and the community. The monarch also encouraged Ola to collaborate with other chiefs and prominent sons and daughters of Ofa-Igbo to form a formidable force for rapid development.

“Ofa-Igbo has existed before many developed towns in this state. We want our illustrious sons and daughters to return home and contribute to the development of their place of origin,” Oba Oyelowo said.

Ola holds associate membership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Institute of Personality Development and Customer Relationship Management, among other professional bodies. His installation as Mayegun, a title rooted in service, leadership, and cultural responsibility, is seen as a boost for community development initiatives in the area.
