The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of attempting to leverage Peter Obi to secure votes and ascend to the presidency on “a flawed template” that could undermine Nigeria’s fragile unity.
In a series of posts on his verified X handle on Thursday, the 1st of January, 2026, Keyamo claimed that Obi is complicit in the move for selfish reasons, putting the interests of the entire country at risk in exchange for a vice-presidential ticket.
Keyamo further stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) effectively belongs to Atiku, suggesting that Obi’s involvement is being manipulated for political advantage.

The minister expressed sympathy for Obi’s supporters, describing them as being misled by “wily, old war horses in politics” into a path that ultimately leads to disappointment.
“Atiku wants to camouflage with Peter Obi and surreptitiously secure his votes and beco
me President on a flawed template that will damage our fragile unity as a nation. And Peter Obi is supporting this contraption for selfish reasons throwing the entire country under the bus for a mess of pottage called a VP ticket. He will soon learn in a hard way.
“Commiserations to the naive Obi supporters who are being led into a dead end by wily, old war horses in politics. They will all come back to thank us later after the disaster to which they are all heading,” he said.
