Prominent socio-political activist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has vowed to work against Peter Obi if the former Anambra State governor accepts to run as a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
Yesufu issued the strong warning in a video that has gone viral across social media platforms.
In the clip, she insisted that Obi should contest only for the presidency and not play second fiddle to any other aspirant.
According to her, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate remains the most credible figure among those seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and deserves to lead the opposition charge.
“I am giving Nigerians my word,” Yesufu declared in the video. “If Peter Obi emerges as a running mate to anyone, I will work against that ticket. In my little capacity, I will oppose them, even if I do not support any other candidate. Why are we always asking the best to be the second?”
Her comments have generated widespread debate, particularly among supporters of Obi who believe he still holds significant political capital ahead of the 2027 race.
Recall that Obi recently joined the ADC, a party adopted by a coalition of opposition leaders plotting a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The move has fueled speculation about possible alliances and permutations within the opposition camp.
While Obi is listed among the aspirants eyeing the ADC presidential ticket, there are growing indications that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could emerge as the party’s flagbearer.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Obi may be considered as Atiku’s running mate if such a scenario materializes.
However, Yesufu maintained that any arrangement placing Obi in the number two position would not receive her backing, arguing that Nigeria’s political culture must begin to reward competence with leadership.
Her latest stance adds another layer of tension to the evolving 2027 opposition calculations as political actors continue consultations toward forming a formidable presidential ticket.
Fans and political observers will be watching closely to see how Obi responds to the public pressure and whether the activist’s vow will influence final decisions within the ADC.
