NYSC Sets January 21 for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps in the country.

The announcement was made in a statement posted on the official X handle of the scheme on Tuesday. According to the statement, camp registration for all prospective corps members will begin on Wednesday, January 21, and end at midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.

It stated that the swearing-in ceremony would hold on Friday, January 23, while the closing ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished prospective corps members safe journeys to their respective states of deployment and advised them to avoid travelling at night.

NYSC management also urged corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation programme schedule to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.

The NYSC scheme, established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, makes the three-week orientation camp the foundational phase of national service.

During the orientation period, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, skills acquisition training under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, lectures on national issues and cultural activities aimed at fostering interaction across ethnic and religious lines.
