The Kebbi State Police Command on Monday intensified security measures at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Basaura, Jega Local Government Area, in a move described by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, as a “proactive approach to protecting corps members.”
Sani, who visited the camp with his management team, urged all security personnel on duty to remain vigilant, avoid complacency, and maintain constant surveillance.
“You must remain vigilant at all times. Do not cluster in one place—move around, observe your surroundings, and work as a team,” he instructed officers during the operational briefing.
The commissioner emphasised the importance of seamless collaboration among all units, noting that inter-agency synergy is critical to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free orientation exercise. “Show commitment, support one another, and strengthen your cooperation with other security agencies and camp officials. This is how we guarantee a safe environment for our corps members,” Sani said.

During the visit, he held a closed-door meeting with top stakeholders, including the Kebbi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Alhaji Haliru Wasagu; Security Adviser to the Governor, Col. Hassan Ribah (retd.); State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Bala Kagarko; Commanding Officer of 36 PMF Birnin Kebbi, ACP Aliyu Jega; and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, ACP Auwal Yakubu.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the meeting focused on critical issues such as safety protocols, early warning systems, and rapid response strategies to further strengthen the camp’s resilience.
The visit underscores the command’s renewed commitment to safeguarding corps members as they commence their national service in Kebbi State.
