Nasarawa Senator Onawo Dumps PDP, Cites ‘Personal Reasons’

Senator Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South in the National Assembly, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, ending his long standing association with the opposition party.

The lawmaker conveyed his decision in a letter dated January 10, 2026, which he addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

In the letter, Onawo stated that his resignation took effect immediately.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, with effect from today, 10th January, 2026,” the letter read.

Explaining the reason behind the move, the senator said the decision was not driven by any external pressure but by personal reflection.

“This decision has been taken after careful consideration and is purely for personal reasons,” he said.

Onawo also used the letter to express gratitude to the PDP leadership, members, and supporters for giving him the platform to serve in public office over the years.
