Police Summon Ex-Rivers SSG Danagogo Over Alleged Wike Assassination Call

The Nigeria Police Force has invited former Rivers State Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over a leaked phone conversation reportedly linked to a purported plot against Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The invitation, dated January 9, directs Danagogo to report to the Intelligence Response Team complex near Guzape Junction, Abuja, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, as part of an ongoing investigation and fact-finding exercise in the interest of justice.

He is expected to present himself to CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his team on arrival.

The summons is connected to a viral audio recording allegedly involving Danagogo and a Port Harcourt‑based medical doctor and cleric, Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, who has been arrested in connection with the purported plot.

The recording reportedly included discussions about recruiting foreign nationals to execute the plan, although police have not confirmed the details publicly.

Danagogo has denied any involvement, describing the allegations as false and malicious.

He said he remains at his residence and is ready to cooperate with authorities if formally invited.

Police officials emphasized that being summoned for questioning does not constitute evidence of guilt, noting that the presumption of innocence is upheld until charges are filed and proven in court.

The development comes amid heightened political tensions in Rivers State, where disputes among key political figures have drawn national attention.
