Police Nab Notorious Drug Dealer, Five Suspected Thugs in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer and five alleged thugs during an operation at Jaoji Quarters in Kano metropolis.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday, describing the operation as a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes in the state.

According to Haruna, police officers attached to the Jaoji Police Division arrested the suspected drug dealer, identified as Hafizu Ali, 25, alongside five suspected thugs during the operation conducted on January 10.

He said the operation was carried out under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, in line with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s nationwide directive to intensify strategic crime prevention measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding lives and property.

Haruna disclosed that the suspected drug dealer was found in possession of 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa.

He added that items recovered from the suspected thugs included four knives, two scissors and an axe.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved for their commitment and dedication, while also appreciating residents of the state for their continued support and cooperation with the police.

Haruna said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Police Command has also announced the arrest of 10 suspects in a series of coordinated operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state.

The Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said the arrests were made during simultaneous operations carried out across different parts of the state.
