Gov Eno Orders Akwa Ibom Commissioners to Account for 2025 Performance

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has directed members of the State Executive Council to present detailed reports of their performance in 2025 alongside clear projections for 2026, insisting that all programmes must strictly reflect the ARISE Agenda of his administration.

The directive was issued on Monday in Uyo during the opening of a two-week ministerial briefing at the State Executive Council Chambers, according to a statement released by the Government House Press Unit on Tuesday.

Governor Eno said the exercise, scheduled to run from January 12 to January 21, would feature daily briefing sessions by commissioners and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He charged council members to give a comprehensive account of their stewardship, including personnel strength, projects executed in 2025 and implementation plans for 2026, stressing that submissions must go beyond budgetary provisions to demonstrate clear alignment with the administration’s development blueprint.

Eno noted that the year would be critical for consolidating the gains of his government, describing 2026 as a period demanding concrete results rather than explanations.

“This is a year of expansion and growth, building on the progress recorded over the past two and a half years. We must remain committed to extending our developmental reach under the ARISE Agenda for the benefit of all Akwa Ibom people. There is zero tolerance for excuses; this is the year for action,” the governor declared.

He explained that the ministerial briefing was designed to clearly outline the state’s priorities and ensure focused, efficient and continuous service delivery, especially as governance activities would intersect with political engagements during the year.

The governor also urged commissioners to mobilise their constituents to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, as well as the electronic registration of the All Progressives Congress.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, praised Governor Eno’s leadership style, describing it as inclusive and fatherly.

He also commended the briefing initiative, assuring that members of the executive council were prepared to meet expectations.

Providing details on the schedule, the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser to the Governor, Aniefiok Johnson, disclosed that the briefing would begin immediately, with the Ministry of Works and the Fire Service slated to make the first presentations.
