Aisha Yesufu Hails Withdrawal Of Cases Against Natasha

Co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has commented on the decision of the Federal Government to withdraw two criminal cases instituted against Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Yesufu shared her reaction on Thursday, the 15th of January, 2026, via her verified X account, where she described the development as a clear indication that injustice did not prevail.

Her comments followed the ruling of an Abuja High Court, which on the same day struck out the charges after the Federal Government formally discontinued the cases against the lawmaker.

“One of the most fulfilling actions I took in 2025 was coming out to stand firmly with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. I promised she will not walk alone and I stood by those words.

“It was rewarding being with her in court today as the Federal Government discontinued the two cases (that should never have been instituted) against her.
“Senator Natasha famously and defiantly stated last year that ‘This Injustice Shall Not Be Sustained’ Indeed the injustice was not sustained!

“It was so heartwarming to hear that on my birthday 12th of December the Federal Government decided to be honourable and send the letter of discontinuance even though it took over a month for the letter to be heard in court and the case struck out.

“I say a big thank you to Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan for fighting and waking up the courage in our Nation. Many have now seen that it is not okay to be silent in the face of injustice! And to her Husband High Chief Emmanuel OritsejolomiUduaghan the Alema of Warri Kingdom who has shown what true love and family support is truly about,” she wrote.

The activist’s reaction adds to growing public commentary surrounding the withdrawal of the cases, which had drawn significant attention from civil society groups and rights advocates across the country.
