Nasarawa Police Foil Child Trafficking Plot, Rescue Eight-Year-Old

The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully disrupted a child trafficking operation, rescuing an eight-year-old boy in a coordinated investigation that spanned multiple states.

The development was publicly announced on Monday, January 19, 2026, by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his verified X account, citing police sources.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued child, identified as Jeremiah Bikwo, had been trafficked out of Nasarawa and that six individuals had been arrested in connection with the syndicate.

The police emphasized that the operation reflects their ongoing commitment to combating human trafficking in the state.

According to police reports, the investigation began on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, when intelligence indicated that Jeremiah was being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Abia State Police Command.

The boy told investigators that he is from Ogobo Village in Loko Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Further inquiries revealed that Jeremiah had been sold for N3 million.

Detectives tracked the trafficking network to Abia State and confirmed the child’s location by Saturday, January 17, 2026.

The six suspects taken into custody include Chilaka Calista Nneka, 33; Chigbu Cynthia, 36; Michael Ibeh Chioma, 52; and Victoria Ositadinma, 53, all residents of Abia State, as well as Alhassan Bama, 35, of Ogobo Village, Loko LGA; and Jacob Jonah, 38, of Olegefe Village, Loko LGA, Nasarawa State.

Authorities said all suspects have made statements admitting their involvement, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional members of the trafficking network.

Jeremiah remains in protective custody, with police working to ensure his safe return to his family.

The Nasarawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to prosecuting offenders and curbing human trafficking across the region.
