Chief (Prince) Otunba Adekunle Ojora, a prominent Nigerian businessman and respected traditional leader, has passed away at the age of 93.
His family confirmed his death on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Born on June 13, 1932, Ojora held several distinguished titles, including Otunba of Lagos, Lisa of Ile-Ife, and Olori Omo Oba of Lagos.
He was the head of the Ojora Royal Family and father to Mrs. Toyin Ojora-Saraki, wife of former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Ojora’s career began in journalism after completing studies in London, working with the British Broadcasting Corporation before returning to Nigeria in the 1950s to join the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.
He later transitioned into business, rising to executive director at the United African Company and eventually leading multiple major firms.
Over the decades, Ojora helped shape corporate governance in Nigeria, serving as chairman of AGIP Nigeria Limited from 1971 until 2002 and establishing private companies spanning industries such as oil and gas, shipping, real estate, manufacturing, insurance, and finance.

He earned national honours, was a fellow of several professional organisations, and received an honorary doctorate from Central State University in Ohio.
Ojora remained influential in business and public life throughout his later years.
He is survived by his wife, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Burial arrangements will follow Islamic rites, with the family requesting prayers and remembrance from the public.
