Former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on recent reactions surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s brief stumble during an official ceremony, insisting that the nation’s leader is human, not extraordinary.
Sani shared his thoughts on Wednesday, the 28th of January, 2026, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, following public discussions about the incident.
According to reports, President Tinubu momentarily lost his footing while taking part in a guard-of-honour parade organised to welcome him in Türkiye on Tuesday. The slip occurred during the ceremonial proceedings and quickly attracted attention online.
In response to the speculation that followed, the Presidency issued a statement clarifying that the President remains in good health and is fit, dismissing any concerns about his wellbeing.

Commenting on the development, Sani dismissed the controversy, stating, “The problem is not about the President’s misstep. The problem is with the people who think a President should be a supernatural who should not, cannot or must not misstep.”
He emphasised that occasional human errors should not be exaggerated or politicised, noting that leadership does not equate to perfection.
