Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on businesses and private individuals to partner with the state in strengthening security, citing urgent needs for advanced equipment and infrastructure.
Speaking during a meeting with corporate leaders in Ikoyi on Friday, January 30, 2026, the governor said additional funds would be deployed to acquire helicopters, drones, armoured vehicles, water cannons, patrol cars, and high-tech surveillance systems, as well as to upgrade training facilities and a specialised mechanical workshop for security agencies.

Sanwo-Olu noted that while the state finances over half of its security operations, private sector contributions remain critical to expanding the “safe city” initiative, which includes a large-scale deployment of CCTV cameras and the modernisation of the Command and Control Centre.
He stressed that improved security is essential not only for public safety but also for maintaining investor confidence and sustaining Lagos’ economic growth.
