The All Progressives Congress has replaced Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma with former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman of the party’s National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of its 2026 National Convention.
The leadership change, confirmed on Friday, February 6, 2026, reflects a strategic reshuffle within the convention planning structure as preparations intensify for the party’s national gathering scheduled for Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, 2026.
The convention will determine the party’s organisational direction, including key decisions affecting its National Working Committee and broader political strategy.
Uzodimma, who was initially named chairman when the committee was first constituted, has been reassigned as Treasurer following the reconstitution of the leadership.

Party officials said the changes were made to accommodate zoning considerations and expand stakeholder inclusion ahead of the convention.
The committee’s membership was also increased to strengthen coordination and ensure broader representation of senior party figures and stakeholders.
Masari, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and two-term governor of Katsina State, is expected to lead preparations and oversee the convention’s organization, which party leaders describe as crucial for the APC’s future political positioning.
The adjustment comes just days after the party had unveiled Uzodimma as chairman, highlighting a swift internal realignment as the APC moves closer to its March 2026 national convention.
