Tension In Kwara As Bandits Threatens Fresh Attack

Amid heightened security operations against insurgents in Kwara State, suspected bandits have reportedly circulated a notice announcing plans to strike three communities in Oyun Local Government Area.

The warning, allegedly issued by a group calling itself the Nigeria Terrorists Association (NTA), indicated that Ira, Inaja, and Aho communities are targets of an impending attack. The letter was said to have been discovered at the Ira market, where it was left behind.

Reports indicate that the message has triggered widespread anxiety among residents, while prompting security agencies to intensify surveillance and operational readiness across the affected areas.

In the notice, members of the group reportedly claimed they had moved from Kaiama in the Kwara North Senatorial District to Oyun Local Government in Kwara South, declaring that “they shall be coming to attack Ira town, Inaja and Aho village anytime soon.”

Recall that on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2026, operatives foiled an attempted bandit assault on Share, the administrative headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area, also situated in Kwara South Senatorial District.

The confrontation reportedly lasted about an hour, with heavy gunfire exchanged between troops and the attackers. No deaths or abductions were recorded in the incident.
