Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected armed terrorists during a tactical operation in Ondo State.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Irabor Njoka, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night and was shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Monday.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on February 14, 2026, by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auga, following credible human intelligence on the movement of suspected criminals along the Akunu–Auga road in Ondo State.
The attack resulted in a firefight during which the troops’ superior firepower neutralised two of the armed elements, while others reportedly escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
The operation was conducted in conjunction with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and local vigilantes.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms, and the sum of ₦39,000, among other personal effects.

The Army said the success of the operation underscores its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of movement and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Ondo State.
Njoka added that it would sustain aggressive clearance and exploitation operations, intensify patrols along identified criminal corridors, and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders to maintain security in the area.
Residents were urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
