The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
The appointment was confirmed on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen interaction between the government and residents across the state.
In her new role, Johnson-Okojie is expected to drive initiatives that promote public awareness of government policies, encourage citizen participation, and enhance communication between the government and grassroots communities.
The state government said her wide public appeal, strong communication ability, and connection with ordinary citizens would support ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive and responsive governance structure.

Johnson-Okojie is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s film industry, with a long-standing career in Nollywood.
