Police Find Body Of Abducted Ndufu-Alike Monarch

The body of the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Francis Igwe, has been recovered after his abduction on March 1, 2026, while he was reportedly on his way to church.

The recovery of the monarch’s remains was confirmed in an official statement issued by the Ebonyi State Police Command on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Security operatives disclosed that investigations and search operations led to the location where the body was found following the arrest of multiple suspects linked to the kidnapping.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly provided information that guided operatives to the recovery site.A locally made firearm was also reportedly retrieved as part of the investigation.

Authorities added that efforts remain ongoing to identify all individuals involved and ensure prosecution in line with the law.

The traditional ruler’s abduction and death have prompted widespread mourning in Ndufu-Alike and neighboring communities.

Residents described him as a respected community leader whose contributions to local governance and social cohesion earned him broad recognition.

The incident has reignited public concerns over security in rural areas and the vulnerability of traditional institutions and citizens to violent crime.

Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against kidnapping and bringing perpetrators to justice.
