Nigeria’s sporting community is in mourning following the death of Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu, president of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation and former Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria.
Dunkwu died on Saturday, March 7, 2026, on his way to a scheduled aquatic sports engagement, according to a statement from the federation.
Officials said the federation was preparing for a talent discovery and aquatic development programme aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in swimming and related disciplines when the incident occurred.
