Kaduna PDP Reacts To Appeal Court Verdict On Party Leadership

The Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State has said the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal has strengthened the party’s internal disciplinary structure.

The party’s State Working Committee made the remark following the 9th of March, 2026 judgment which upheld an earlier High Court decision that nullified the convention that produced the Turaki-led leadership.

In a statement issued by the state chairman, Edward Percy Masha, the party acknowledged that the outcome of the case did not align with the expectations of many members but maintained that the decision has opened a new phase for the party’s leadership process.

Masha explained that the ruling paves the way for members of the National Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees to step in and convene a meeting that would lead to the formation of a caretaker leadership to manage the party’s affairs pending the emergence of a new National Working Committee.

“Suffice to say we have a big relief with the CoA ruling where it upheld the suspension of some former key officers of our party, the former Secretary; legal adviser, organising secretary & others.

“By this judgement, the same suspended officers who constituted and inaugurated the so- called Caretaker Committee can not stand as its foundation has been declared null & void,” it said.

The statement also urged members of the party across the state to remain calm and continue supporting party activities despite the leadership dispute.

It encouraged party supporters to stay committed to the party’s principles and participate actively in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
