The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), has directed Nigeria’s service chiefs to visit the North-East and North-West regions to review and realign military operations.
The directive came during a meeting with the service chiefs on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on addressing the escalating security challenges in the two geopolitical zones.
Timothy Antigha, Media Adviser to the Defense Minister, said the service chiefs are expected to report their observations and recommendations following the visits.

“The aim is to ensure a thorough review and rejig of military operations in the North-East and North-West regions,” Antigha quoted Musa as saying.
The directive follows a recent surge in attacks by terrorists across the regions, including assaults on military installations that have resulted in the deaths of several personnel.
The ministry emphasized that the visits are critical to reassessing strategies and strengthening security measures in the affected areas.
