APC UK Group Welcomes Tinubu, Hails Visit As Diplomatic Milestone

A United Kingdom-based chapter of the All Progressives Congress representing persons with disabilities and mental health advocates has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu ahead of their official visit to Britain, describing the trip as a significant moment for Nigeria’s global engagement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its leader, Ayorinde Amoko, and Deputy Leader, Funmi Adesanya, the group said the March 18 to 19, 2026 visit underscores Nigeria’s growing influence on the international stage while reinforcing long-standing ties with the United Kingdom.

The organisation described the visit as “a defining moment” in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between both nations, adding that it reflects the administration’s commitment to international cooperation and inclusive governance.

“As representatives of Persons with Disabilities and Mental Health communities within APC UK, we are particularly encouraged by the renewed focus on inclusivity, social justice, and empowerment under your leadership,” the statement read.

The group noted that the visit offers an opportunity to deepen collaboration in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and social protection, particularly for vulnerable populations.

It also expressed optimism that enhanced cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom would help build systems that promote dignity, equal rights, and opportunities for all citizens, especially those living with disabilities and mental health challenges.

The delegation’s itinerary includes a high-profile reception by the British monarch at Windsor Castle, where President Tinubu and the First Lady are expected to engage in diplomatic and cultural exchanges, including viewing items from the Royal Collection linked to Nigeria.

According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

A high-level delegation is accompanying the President, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several cabinet members and security chiefs, reflecting the strategic importance of the visit.

Reaffirming its support, the APC UK group commended the President’s leadership and expressed hope that the visit would open new pathways for progress and mutual development between both countries.

“Your administration’s vision for a stronger and more equitable Nigeria resonates deeply with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora,” the group added, wishing the President and his entourage a successful and impactful engagement.
