Outrage In Port Harcourt After Convoy Allegedly Kills Young Woman

Public outrage is mounting in Port Harcourt following the tragic death of a 26-year-old woman, identified as Moses Peace, in a suspected hit-and-run incident involving a convoy.

The incident reportedly occurred on Ada George Road on March 19, 2026, as the victim was returning from a church programme. Eyewitness accounts suggest that vehicles believed to be part of a convoy struck the young woman and failed to stop or render assistance.

According to initial reports circulating on social media, multiple vehicles in the convoy may have run over the victim before leaving the scene. She was later confirmed dead at the scene, sparking grief among family, friends, and residents.

The tragic incident has since ignited widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians demanding accountability and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle involved may have been either a Toyota Tundra or a Toyota Highlander. Authorities and supporters of the victim are urging members of the public to provide any useful information, including details about the vehicle’s colour, distinguishing features, or licence plate number.

Residents have described the incident as deeply disturbing, calling for justice and improved accountability for convoy movements on public roads.

As of press time, there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities, but calls for a full-scale investigation continue to grow.

The case adds to ongoing concerns about road safety, impunity, and the conduct of convoy drivers in Nigeria’s urban centres, with many insisting that no individual or group should be above the law.
