Sanusi Takes Over As FCT CP

Mr. Ahmed Sanusi on Tuesday officially assumed duty as the 35th Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Police Public Relations Officer in the territory, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed in a statement.

Adeh explained that Sanusi’s appointment follows the promotion of his predecessor, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and his subsequent redeployment to another strategic post.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, recently approved the redeployment and posting of several senior officers, including Assistant Inspectors-General and Commissioners of Police, across key commands, formations, and departments of the Nigeria Police Force. A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, indicated that the moves are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, improve leadership capacity, and enhance service delivery nationwide.

According to SP Adeh, Sanusi is a highly experienced officer with decades of dedicated service. Born on May 20, 1972, he hails from Lokoja Local Government Area in Kogi State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in May 2000. Following his training and passing-out parade in 2001, he was posted to the Niger State Police Command, where he began his policing career.

“As he assumes duty today, Sanusi has affirmed his commitment to strengthening existing security frameworks and enhancing community-police relations across the FCT,” Adeh said.

Prior to his appointment as FCT Commissioner of Police, Sanusi served as the Commander of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Adeh described him as a devout Muslim, a devoted family man, and a professional committed to excellence in policing.

She urged residents of the FCT to continue supporting the police in maintaining law, order, and peace throughout the territory.
