The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thanked residents of Bwari Area Council for their support in the February 21 FCT Area Council elections, describing the outcome as a fulfilment of commitments made to President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the remarks during a thank-you visit to Bwari on Tuesday, praising the electorate’s turnout and backing while emphasising that elected officials must honour their promises. He noted that the administration had consulted widely with community stakeholders before initiating projects in the area.
“On behalf of the President, I thank you for keeping the promise you made to him by ensuring that all those who supported him and contested in this election emerged victorious. He will not take this support for granted. In return, he will fulfil his own commitments to you, and that responsibility will be carried out through me,” Wike said.
The minister assured residents that major infrastructure projects, including the Bwari–Kubwa road, would be completed as scheduled. “So, I tell all of you, the road we are constructing from Bwari to Kubwa—we will finish it. We will finish it this year,” he pledged.
Wike also warned against misleading political tactics by opposition figures and urged residents to continue supporting leaders who understand their needs.

In his remarks, the Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, expressed gratitude to Wike and the electorate for their support, describing the minister as a committed and supportive leader. Ishaku promised continued backing for the administration ahead of future elections, pledging to ensure that the renewed mandate is restored in 2027.
The immediate past Speaker of the Bwari Area Council Legislative Arm, and former Peoples Democratic Party chairmanship aspirant, Julius Adamu, reportedly stepped down for Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) days before the election, following discussions with Wike.
In the February 21 elections, APC won five of the six chairmanship seats across FCT Area Councils, including Abuja Municipal Area Council, Abaji, Bwari, Kwali, and Kuje, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the chairmanship seat in Gwagwalada.
