The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, March 2, said he is confident of securing overwhelming support from Nigerians if he decides to contest Nigeria’s presidency in a future election.
Wike made the remarks while speaking to selected journalists, where he expressed belief that his popularity among Nigerians remains strong.
“Nigerians still love me, and if I run for the presidential election, they will vote for me massively,” he stated.
The former Rivers State governor said his political strength lies in his ability to connect directly with ordinary citizens across the country.

According to him, that relationship with the grassroots distinguishes him from many other political actors.
Wike pointed to his record while serving as governor of Rivers State, as well as his current role as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, saying both demonstrate his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
He also spoke about the recent Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, expressing confidence in the strength of his political base.
The minister said that even if the elections were conducted again, candidates supported by his political structure would still emerge victorious.
Wike maintained that his years of public service and grassroots support position him as a strong contender in any electoral contest.
