The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on traffic violations, leading to the prosecution of no fewer than 68 offenders across various courts in the state.
The offenders were arraigned on Saturday before Mobile Courts in Warri and Asaba, as well as at a Magistrate Court in Okwe, following a coordinated enforcement operation targeting major roads.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle increasing traffic infractions and improve road safety across Delta State.
The police disclosed that those apprehended were charged with a range of offences, including unauthorised use of number plates, driving against traffic, operating unregistered vehicles, illegal use of sirens, road obstruction, and driving without valid licences.
Authorities also flagged the use of covered or fake number plates as a serious concern, noting its link to criminal activities and evasion of security checks.

“All offenders were fined in line with the provisions of the Delta State Traffic Management Law and the National Road Traffic Regulations,” the statement noted, stressing that penalties are meant to deter future violations.
The command further revealed that it is strengthening collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Delta State Traffic Management Agency to ensure coordinated enforcement and enhance safety on the roads uuuu.
Motorists were urged to comply strictly with traffic laws, maintain proper vehicle registration, and carry valid driving documents at all times.
Reaffirming its stance, the police warned that it would continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against traffic offences, vowing sustained action to protect lives and maintain order across Delta roads.
