A tragic road accident along the Abuja–Kaduna highway has claimed the life of a senior Nigerian Army officer, heightening concerns over safety on the busy route.
The fatal incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, March 28, at Azara village near Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Details of the crash emerged on Sunday through a post by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on X.
According to the report, the accident involved a commercial Sharon bus and a truck belonging to BUA Cement.
The deceased officer, identified as Major A.M. Abubakar, was said to be travelling as a passenger in the commercial vehicle at the time of the crash.
He was also undergoing training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

Sources indicated that the officer died instantly at the scene, while other occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
His remains were subsequently evacuated to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
It was further gathered that his personal effects were later released to his family upon their arrival at the facility.
The incident adds to the growing number of accidents recorded along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, a highway often associated with heavy traffic and safety challenges.
