FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays For Easter Celebration

The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebration.

The declaration was made in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 1, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Good Friday falls on April 3, while Easter Monday will be observed on April 6.

In the statement, the minister extended Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora, urging citizens to reflect on the values associated with the season.

“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter,” the statement read.

“Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

“He urged Nigerians to remain committed to the values of tolerance and community that keep us together as a nation.

“He reiterated that the goal of the government remains taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

“He wished all Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration,” the statement concluded.
