The air component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a significant operational breakthrough following a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorists’ enclaves in Kangarwa, Borno State.
It was gathered that at least 15 fighters affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were reportedly neutralised during the operation.
According to a post shared by security analyst, Zagagola Magama on Friday, the strikes were executed based on credible intelligence, focusing on key terrorist infrastructure and assembly points within the Kangarwa axis, long regarded as a stronghold of the group.
Preliminary battle damage assessments, the air raids inflicted heavy casualties on ISWAP ranks, with several fighters killed and others sustaining serious injuries.
“The operation achieved a high degree of precision. Intelligence indicates that no fewer than 15 ISWAP fighters were neutralised, while multiple others were wounded.
“A structure linked to a senior commander was also hit,” a military source said.
The post further revealed that the residence of a top ISWAP figure, identified as Malam Nuhu, believed to be the Qaid of Kangarwa, was among the targets.
