The Nigerian Air Force has announced the commencement of recruitment for its Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 34/2025, with applications scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, and close on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.
According to the official statement, the registration process is free of charge and must be completed through the service’s recruitment portal, www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.
Applicants have been warned to disregard unofficial websites and individuals demanding payment, as the Nigerian Air Force stressed that the process remains strictly free.
The DSSC programme is a short-term commission designed for Nigerian graduates and professionals who wish to serve as commissioned officers in specialised fields such as medicine, engineering, law, education, and other technical areas.
The initiative is part of efforts by the Air Force to strengthen its manpower base with skilled personnel.
To be eligible, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and fall within specific age brackets.
General applicants must be between 20 and 32 years, while medical consultants are allowed up to 40 years.
Height requirements are set at a minimum of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females. All candidates must be medically, physically and psychologically fit, and must not have any criminal record.
Academic qualifications include a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division for degree holders or Upper Credit for Higher National Diploma holders.
Additional qualifications such as a master’s degree or professional certifications are considered an advantage.
Applicants must also have at least five O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme is mandatory, and applicants are required to present a discharge or exemption certificate.

For medical doctors and other specialised professionals, evidence of full registration with relevant statutory bodies in Nigeria is also required.
Serving personnel in the Nigerian Air Force or other services may apply if they have spent a minimum of five years in service and hold at least the rank of Corporal, supported with a letter of recommendation from their commanding officer.
Candidates will be required to print and submit their acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form, and local government attestation form.
The attestation must be endorsed by a senior military officer not below the rank of Wing Commander, a police officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner or higher, a local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate.
The Nigerian Air Force stated that applicants who meet the requirements will be invited for a zonal aptitude test, after which successful candidates will be shortlisted for further selection processes.
The DSSC recruitment exercise has been a key pathway for bringing professionals into the force. In previous editions, the Air Force admitted graduates across diverse fields, contributing to technical, medical and administrative operations within the service.
The 2025 intake continues that tradition, with emphasis on transparency and merit-based selection.
