Nigerian DJ Association Bans Burna Boy Songs Following Alleged Clash With DJ Tunez

The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on songs by Afrobeats star Burna Boy, following a reported altercation involving the singer and popular disc jockey DJ Tunez at a private event in Lagos.

The development comes amid allegations that Burna Boy and members of his entourage were involved in a confrontation with DJ Tunez inside a nightclub, where a disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical altercation.

Eyewitness accounts circulating online claimed that several individuals were involved in the incident, with DJ Tunez said to have been assaulted during the scuffle.

However, details surrounding the cause of the dispute remain unclear, and no official statement has been issued by Burna Boy’s management team.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the DJ body expressed solidarity with DJ Tunez and directed its members, both in Nigeria and the diaspora, to remove Burna Boy’s music from their playlists pending further investigation.

The association emphasised the importance of unity, professionalism, and respect within the entertainment industry, noting that DJs must be protected from any form of discrimination or mistreatment.

According to the statement, the decision to suspend the singer’s music is temporary and aimed at allowing a thorough review of the incident.

The group also called on its members to remain vigilant and uphold ethical standards while engaging with artists and stakeholders in the industry.

The move has sparked conversations across the music scene, highlighting concerns about artist-DJ relationships and the need for mutual respect in Nigeria’s entertainment ecosystem.

While the situation continues to unfold, industry observers say the outcome of the association’s investigation could influence future interactions between performers and DJs at events across the country.
