A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has cautioned the factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Nafiu Bala, over actions he said could deepen the party’s internal crisis and undermine its growing momentum.
Kwankwaso issued the warning during an interview with DCL Hausa, where he stressed the need for unity within the opposition party amid ongoing leadership disputes.
He noted that the ADC, which he described as a party that has grown significantly in recent times, risks internal setbacks if individuals place personal interests above collective goals.
According to him, millions of supporters have rallied around the party following the involvement of key political figures, making it imperative for all stakeholders to work together in the interest of the country.
Kwankwaso warned that any attempt to obstruct the party’s progress could have serious consequences, both for the individual involved and for the party as a whole.

He also expressed disappointment over what he described as Bala’s absence from a scheduled reconciliation meeting aimed at resolving the leadership impasse.
“We had planned to meet, but even after waiting, he did not show up. That was quite disappointing,” Kwankwaso said, adding that such actions could hinder efforts to stabilise the party.
The former presidential candidate further cautioned that prolonged internal disputes could weaken not only the ADC but also Nigeria’s broader democratic space, especially at a time when strong opposition is seen as critical to political balance.
He urged party members to prioritise unity, dialogue, and cooperation, warning that continued division could derail the party’s prospects ahead of future elections.
Kwankwaso concluded by emphasising that the current political climate requires responsible leadership and collective commitment to strengthening democratic institutions in Nigeria.
