The Ondo State Government has commenced the 2026 promotion exercise for more than 3,000 workers in the state’s public service.
The exercise was officially launched on Monday in Akure by the Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, who explained that the affected workers had completed the required three-year waiting period and were already shortlisted for consideration.
According to him, the employees had been assessed as qualified for promotion and were subsequently invited for interviews as part of the process.
Philip urged participants to uphold discipline and maintain high ethical standards throughout the exercise, noting that this would help ensure its swift and orderly completion.
He also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for consistently approving the annual exercise since assuming office.

“There are states in the federation that either approve promotion in arrears for many years or without immediate financial benefits. We have it good under the present administration,” he said.
The Head of Service further encouraged the workers to demonstrate greater commitment to their duties, stressing that promotion comes with added responsibility.
“Their eventual promotion is a call to higher responsibility,” he added.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Mrs Olufunke Dare-Atunse, praised Philip’s leadership, which she said contributed to the early start of the exercise.
She described the Head of Service as supportive and liberal in handling workforce welfare matters, while also appreciating the state governor for prioritising the wellbeing of public servants in Ondo State.
